Filmed & edited by Ying Zhou

The Songjiang Shadow Puppet was created in the Qing Dynasty Guangxu. It is a branch of South China Showdow Puppet, and during its heydays, the show always had a full house for every performance.

The story of this film happened in the autumn and winter in 2015. At this time, the Songjiang Shadow Puppet had become a conservation program of the Shanghai intangible cultural heritage. Since many of the Shadow Puppet artists in the old generation had passed by, Tang Hongguan, who was 79 years old, became the only successor. He was finding a apprentice to pass this heritage on.
